Learn to use the paper color to your full advantage!  
 When choosing which paper to use in a color pencil drawing, a choice I routinely make is selecting a paper color that is predominate in the main color of the subject. The intensity of the paper’s color offers two excellent benefits. The first is it simplifies the creation of the subject, as it requires less layering, by allowing the color of the paper to show through. The second benefit is that the paper’s color helps to unify the whole drawing, since the commonality of the color is present through the semi-transparency of the pencil application.
